IMMIGRATION
IT’S TIME FOR OUR IMMIGRANT FAMILIES TO STOP LIVING IN FEAR.
Las Vegas is a city of immigrants and home to the largest undocumented population per capita in the country, yet for decades they’ve remained under attack. Long before Trump took office, decade after decade, elected officials—both Democrat and Republican alike—in Washington, D.C. have delivered nothing but broken promises and have failed to pass immigration reform. At the same time, U.S. policies—on climate change, the failed war on drugs, and foreign affairs—played a role in increasing global migration. For years, undocumented communities have lived in the long shadow of surprise raids and forced deportations while documented immigrants have navigated a slow, uncertain, and archaic bureaucracy.

Undocumented workers kept Las Vegas afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept us safe, healthy, and fed. They kept our economy running, from the 40% of undocumented immigrants working in our casinos, resorts, and hotels to those cleaning and disinfecting our workplaces, all at their own personal risk and peril. Even though our undocumented neighbors are crucial to our everyday life, our laws strip them of any safeguards, safety nets, and benefits afforded to citizens.
As the wife of an immigrant, I understand how difficult it can be to uproot your life and come to the United States in search of greener pastures. As your Congresswoman, I will ensure that we reform our immigration system in a comprehensive and humane manner. We must heal, as a nation, from the unjust and violent approach to immigration both Democrats and Republicans have endorsed and condoned. I will fight to protect DREAMers and create a fair pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented Americans here today. I will push to put an immediate stop to mass deportations that tear families apart, update asylum policies to reflect our humanity and, ultimately, abolish ICE and break up the Border Patrol.
YOU CAN COUNT ON MY SUPPORT FOR THE FOLLOWING IMMIGRATION POLICY PRIORITIES & LEGISLATION ON DAY ONE:
-
Reinstate and expand DACA with a full citizenship option
-
Create a pathway to full citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants here today
-
Protect vulnerable immigrant communities and end the abuses within the immigration system, including abolishing ICE and the Border Patrol
-
Stop mass deportations and detention and dismantle the inhumane and cruel deportation programs that put children in cages and separate families
-
Ensure that undocumented people are given relief stimulus in the event of another pandemic or natural disaster
-
Stop our interventionist and militaristic foreign policy, which has led to the destabilization of countries around the world, leading to famine, hyperinflation, and global migration crises
-
Alter our refugee and asylum policy to welcome those displaced by war, famine, and climate change
